And even though we know the series will end happily, why would the writers even want to jump the gun like this?

You know what will be amazingly cool, if this really is the way it goes?!
Seeing the clip from the S4 finale ACTUALLY HAPPEN (or be a flashback/flashforward/flashpresent?? kinda thing) in the SERIES finale.
I'm such a sucker for continuity anyway, that would be my ultimate CON-utopia. :)
