The Center Will Hold

Title: The Center Will Hold

Pairing: B&B

Rating: T

Summary:  Can they hold together or just fall apart?

A/N: My first multi-chapter fic.  It holds a special place in my heart so it deserves a place here as well I suppose.

thanks for the kind welcome!

well if you're really in the mood for good stuff and you waded through angel (amazing stuff i know!), you might try buffy in toto. i was completely skeptical of the show because the movie'd been so awful, but i fell in love pretty much immediately, and boreanaz is so terrible and gorgeous all at the same time....oh the velvet blazers! and buffy, well, buffy is my first deep fandom so i have great love for it.

btw, though you may say that the banter is the most difficult part to write, it sure doesn't seem like it from reading your stories. there's terrific flow and it feels totally organic as though the writers had checked it over before you posted! and as for inspiration, it's hard to keep going when the show's on hiatus....and they left us in such a crazy spot! have you watched the podcasts at itunes? those might spark something......

since you're in the fandom, any suggestions about other folks to read or journals to check out?

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the banter. It's my love for DB and his characters that keep me going. I've seen the podcasts, and you're right, they're great.

If you have any 'Angel' fic recs, I'd love to hear about them. I've had a hard time finding any, mainly because there are just so many. I try to put all my 'Bones' recs on my favorites page at ff.net, but I often don't include all the stories I love by one writer. So if I've recced one fic by an author, then definitely check out their other stuff. :)

oh wow. you know, i never really read angel fanfic because my passion was really buffy. and while i loved angel and buffy together, my otp was actually spike and buffy. i love the bad boyfriend stuff.....all that said, i think i may have some resources for you. let me do a little checking and i'll post them, ok? i know delving into a fandom is ridiculously challenging sometimes especially when it's older and was enormous!

btw, i read some of your other stories at ff.net and i just have to say again: you are terrfic! off balance was simply awesome. this line: She was like a collar on one of his dress shirts the laundry had over starched. and then echoed a bit later on. lovely. so nicely constructed. and so brennan. and wow. hot kiss i gotta say. you had my computer screen all steamed up! i can't wait til you get the writing bug again and give us all more!!!

hey i don't make this offer lightly, but should you ever need a beta, i've done tons of beta reading in the buffy fandom and would totally lend you a hand. just let me know.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my stuff on ff.net. Some I like more than others, but I'm glad you enjoyed.

Not being into the Buffyverse, I didn't really get the Spike/Buffy thing, but I was a fan of Spike on 'Angel'. He was the perfect foil for Angel's seriousness.

I appreciate the offer for a beta, I haven't been using one, but I'll definitely keep your offer in mind.

i have to tell you i read everything you had posted. never let it be said i'm a shirker! and so enjoyed all of them. my only wish was that they were longer! that's what happens when you read something good, you know? you just want it to go on. and i meant also to say that the structure of off balance is really cool--i love that the last line and the first line are connected. it's very planful and well-executed. ok. i'll stop gushing!

as for spike/buffy, joss rooted that pretty deeply. you can see the beginning of it from the very first ep he's in (using spuffy lenses in my goggles of course) but it's a really fun story. at least until it gets even darker than you thought it could get.

and i'm so glad you're pleased with the angel links. there's nothing better than being given some direction in the wilderness of the interweb. i've been really thrilled by the bones community and the rec pages i've found. that's how i found you! share and share alike i say. have lots of fun reading...i know i am.
hugs,
julia

Share and share alike is a great idea! I think we should all do a better job posting fic recs, because that really puts us all in touch with each other and often with stories we otherwise wouldn't have found. Even if they're from other fandoms your friends may not be into, good writing is good writing, ya know?

i just today found a couple of lj'ers who are angel writers--well maybe more cordy writers but they give good angst. lostakasha and damnskippytoo both seem to be excellent darkfic producers. you may want to check them out.....it's kinds cool to have the crossover fans with david being the lynchpin you wind up getting the best of both worlds.

oh and you're completely right about the recs. i wish i had been better over the years about collecting the ones i loved. there've been so many is so many fandoms....i'd probably be a wealth of knowledge if i'd bothered to really hang onto the stories i loved.
