Anne of Green Gables

I know some of you out there will admit along with me that Anne and Gilbert were your first ship.  Just in case some of you didn't know, the 100th Anniversary of the printing of Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery is this year.  Amazon.com has a 100th Anniversary edition out right now in hardcover, if anyone is interested.

I confess that I read the cover right off my original copy.  I know some of you did the same - anyone care to reminisce about Gilbert Blythe?

That moment when Anne finally admits she loves him, when she thinks he is dying, when "he done got the turn"? Still a kick in the gut every time.

LOVED Anne of Green Gables. Loved the whole series in fact. And really loved the homegrown CBC production of it with Megan Follows as Anne. They shot it right on PEI and the scenes and the casting were just...perfect. Well, the first two parts were and then they did some sort of AU 3rd part where Gilbert goes to fight in WWI...which never happened. But until then...ah!

Thanks for the reminder. I should go watch that again!

And yes, I LOVED Gilbert Blythe! :)

Anne and Gilbert were totally my first ship, before I even knew what ships were. My favorite book of the series was the one where she finally realizes she loves him (Anne of the Island, I think) and I must've read that one countless times (it's available online as a free text). It's funny, I was just thinking the other day about how I needed to find myself a Gilbert Blythe but my friend didn't quite get the reference. :o)

Thank you very much for the info - on my wishlist it goes!
