I've never shared my political views here and I don't intend to now. But I will share that there is no better feeling than walking away from a polling place and thinking, "Hey, I just did my civic duty. I excercised a right that people have died to give me. My ancestors were Cherokee Indians and I just did something they could never do. My grandmother was born before women could vote - her mother never did."
For those of you who don't take the time, or don't see the big deal - just do it once and you'll never give up the feeling it gives you.

Date: 2008-11-05 01:58 am (UTC)Exactly. I totally felt that way about several of the races I voted in, but at least I could pat myself on the back for doing my duty.
And for the first time ever, I got DH to vote which was a huge accomplishment. *pats self on back a little more*
