How does it all end? (not as mauldlin as that sounds)

Sooo... I was watching the end of my favorite tv series of all time - prior to Bones. And I've watched this clip like a thousand times (the last 7 mins of JAG):

And I'm wondering how it will feel when we watch the last 7 minutes of Bones. I'm thinking bittersweet. Thoughts?

But, my ideal way to end the series would be to have them get together then go through ups and downs as they try to make the relationship work and keep solving murders. That would make for really interesting tv. Then the series could end with them making a final commitment (not marriage because I'm not sure I'd ever believe that from Brennan).

YES! Just don't Remington Steele us Hart, and have them finally get together in the last ep. There is so much to explore there; don't let us miss the experience!!!

How funny you mentioned Remington Steele! That was one of the shows that popped into my head when I was thinking about series endings.

There have been so many that have ended in a way I wasn't happy with, that disappointment seems inevitable. But so far, Bones has proven to buck a lot of trends. And when your stars actually want a relationship to work I think your chances of a satisfying series resolution go up exponentially.
