Sooo... I was watching the end of my favorite tv series of all time - prior to Bones. And I've watched this clip like a thousand times (the last 7 mins of JAG):
And I'm wondering how it will feel when we watch the last 7 minutes of Bones. I'm thinking bittersweet. Thoughts?

How would you end the series if you got to write the last ep? That's the million dollar question!

If I were to write the last ep ... assuming that the last ep was the one where they got together, I would have them both jumping into the relationship with both feet, admitting all their feelings - just because the fangirl in me wants to hear it.
But, my ideal way to end the series would be to have them get together then go through ups and downs as they try to make the relationship work and keep solving murders. That would make for really interesting tv. Then the series could end with them making a final commitment (not marriage because I'm not sure I'd ever believe that from Brennan). I don't think once they're together it could go on for more than a season, though. Although with great writing and acting maybe it could. see? I'm totally on the fence here!

Date: 2009-09-29 10:03 pm (UTC)There have been so many that have ended in a way I wasn't happy with, that disappointment seems inevitable. But so far, Bones has proven to buck a lot of trends. And when your stars actually want a relationship to work I think your chances of a satisfying series resolution go up exponentially.

Date: 2009-09-28 06:08 pm (UTC)I tend to begrudge DPB in my head because I watch Bones and the ship is so easy in comparison - there's no resentment against the shippers, no cruel plot devices to string you along for another year. But I guess that's what makes the last 7 and a half minutes all that more special, eh?
As for the Bones finale, what would make me really sad (besides no Booth/Brennan) would be to see the team break up for whatever reason...they are a family at this point. (Ok done)

Date: 2009-09-28 08:37 pm (UTC)Watching that last ep, and some clips on youtube, really does make me realize how easy it is on Bones. And you're totally right, sometimes I really resent DPB for taking 10 years of my life, 9 with Harm/Mac, and all I got was those measly 7 minutes? I have to confess that I was so frustrated by season 10 that I never actually watched the whole season, only a few eps and then the last one. Now i regret it because it's not on dvd.
Against the Wind by Sooz is one of my favorite fanfics of all time, not just JAG. There are several more that I want to add to my recs, but I've been re-reading a bunch to try to pare down my list.
back to Bones, I agree whole-heartedly that the team is just as important to me as Booth and Brennan. I don't want to see HH send them all off in various directions at the end of the series. I'd like to be able to imagine them all still together in their little squint world when all this is over.
P.S. - haven't heard much from you in a while. School okay or are you finished?

Date: 2009-09-28 11:59 pm (UTC)As far as I can tell season 9 comes out this November, I think the last season shouldn't be too far behind. Honestly it wasn't all that great however there were a few bright spots here and there.
Definitely looking forward to your revised rec list! I have favorites of my own but lost my various bookmarks and lists from one computer to another.
I know I've pretty much disappeared off the face of LJ but yeah school's going ok, just started my fifth year (and also just got my ass kicked by an exam this morning) but all I can do now is just study harder. With that I am off to the library although thank you for asking. Hopefully I will not be a total bum and will actually keep up with the fandom haha. Thanks Doc :o)

Date: 2009-09-29 10:12 pm (UTC)It really would have been nice to see how JAG dealt with the relationship, because with all the drama between those two it would have been really fun to watch. I'm thinking about getting Season 9 in Nov, and just keeping my fingers crossed for Season 10. They show the older ones all the time on cable now.
Would love to hear more about school from you. I'm sure we could commiserate on a few subjects! Hang in there. It'll all be worth it in the end :)

Date: 2009-09-28 09:24 pm (UTC)And how will I feel when Bones ends? Not looking forward to it. This has been the first fandom that I've really gotten involved in like this; made new friends, started writing again after 25 years, gotten emotionally involved in the characters to this extent. I think it will be like a piece of me will be missing when it's all over. Luckily, that won't be before May 2011, hopefully later than that...
