Am I the only one that LJ has been fucking with lately?  Every time I edit my Favorite Fics post, it erases half of it.  Which takes FOREVER to recreate!

*so pissed off I can't see straight*

No, it's been a real bitch lately.

My suggestion: stay out of the Rich Text Editor as much as fucking possible. It screws everything up, big time.

If you go to LJ Home and read their Maintenance Spotlight (or WTFever it's called) they have some suggestions and a list of issues that have been going on lately.

Of course, staying out of RTE means that you have to have some HTML knowledge. If you need to know anything, I have very limited knowledge that I can pass on... otherwise, LJ SUCKS BALLS RIGHT NOW when it comes to posting (and especially editing) anything.

Sorries! I sympathize! ♥

Here.

It is clearly RTE that's the problem. I try to not use it but my html abilities are also somewhat limited and take me forever so when I'm just adding one little tiny thing to a post I just use RTE. BIG MISTAKE. Poof! everything is gone. I have found that if you preview something before posting, you will at least know whether or not everything is screwed and can fix it before LJ eats the post. But - once again - if in a hurry this is a pain.

Thanks for the sympathy. :(

(I may be calling on you for html help in the future because I have to get faster and better with it ...)

Is it doing that weird thing where it tries to convert everything to an LJ username?? Or just creating LJ cuts where it shouldn't? Either way: ARGH!!!

If you copy and paste the html into a document I can clean it up for you?

It is a pain in the freaking ass!!!!

You are a sweetie. I just need to stop bitching about it and fix the stupid entry and not touch it again for a while. I have a whole book (html for dummies) of code that I'm just too lazy to drag out. So I try to take shortcuts ...

(It ate some of my 'Angel' recs on my fic rec entry so I'm sure you now understand my pain :) I have to re-link to them which isn't a big deal 'cept I JUST DID THIS TWO WEEKS AGO. Wow. SHouting did make me feel better ...)

*hugs*

A ha! What you linked is apparently what happened. (Guess I should read that stupid Spotlight crap, huh?) Anyways, I'll have to sit down this weekend and fix it. Yayz.

Kate gave me this link the other day, which may or may not be of help... I haven't had to really try to use it yet.
And also the FAQ's here at LJ will give you the code setup for most things.

And another thing... do you use Firefox? If so, go here for the LJ Hook add-on for Firefox. It allows you to simply right click and choose from a drop-down menu to do some coding. (And yes, it's been working for me lately even in the HTML editor of posting entries...)

I don't use Firefox but that sounds really neat ... may have to make some changes around here. I just hate having to search for code ya know? *iz lazy*

I had similar issues whenever I tried to edit my master list of fic; had to switch to the HTML editor. Sorry you're having trouble, too. :(

yeah, I just wanted to edit my fic recs post (a tiny little edit too) and poff! I'm about halfway through fixing it and I'm leaving it alone after that. What a disaster ...

Oh, that is a real pain in the neck! LJ can sometimes just be such a $%&%^$%!!!! Sorry it's been giving you a hard time. The suggestions above are all I've got for you too. The RTE was supposed to make your life easier, not harder!
