Twilight Series ...

I know this came up several months ago but what are ya'll's opinions ("ya'll" is a word, let's get that out of the way) on the 'Twilight' series, by Stephanie Meyer?  I read the first book yesterday (yes, in 4 hours) and I'm not sure I want to commit to this series.  It was good, and obviously a pretty easy read, but seriously, do I want to get emotionally involved here or not?  I can't seem to make up my mind if I want to make the emotional investment.  Or will there be and emotional investment?  Anyway, I know you gals won't steer me wrong.

Ya'll is most definitely a word!

Twilight is one of those things that I will completely admit to loving, while acknowledging that it's undeniably ridiculous. It really is just over the top, teenage angst... and while I shake my head over all the drama, secretly I loved it, because I remember how utterly dramatic I (and seemingly everything around me)was when I was in high school.

That said, I hated almost all of the final installment. I flew through the first three books and then took several weeks to read the last one, because I just could not make myself focus on it.

SPARKLING VAMPIRES. Do not want.

Yeah, so I haven't actually read the books, but I've read enough about them to want to pass. *shrugs* Maybe it's lack of enthusiasm for romance novels but the only reason I'd read them is for the lulz.

*is unhelpful and suitably contrite*

My 21 year old hated it. My 19 year old said, "I'd have loved this when I was 14!"

My 14 year old LOVED it.

(all girls, naturally - my boy refuses to even open the book).

So I guess it depends on your feelings about abstinence, true lurve forever, and sparkly vampires.

My thoughts? (I read a lot of YA). Meh.

My opinion is sort of like [livejournal.com profile] britt_1975's on this. I loved the first three books, but I still haven't finished the last one and it came out @ begining of august. I do also recognize that it's utterly ridiculous and it's totally a bunch of angst and stuff, but I think it's the hopeless romantic in me that's so in love with the story.

But also, I've discovered that with me, often my obsessions go in phases, so who knows what I'll love in a month or two... ;)
