Okay - thinking on this more, I've decided I'm easily confuzed. ~So the sex would be Future!(Real)!Sex? ~So when we come back in S5, they will have not really had sex? BUT they will have had epiphanies? No more delusion, and yet still fighting it?
Exactly!? What I'm wondering is, what would be the cliffhanger that will end the episode? If it's something that alters their relationship one would think it would have to be related to something big like real rightnow!sex. Because how would showing us futurereal!sex alter anything at all?
Maybe this is just me wanting them to finally get it on for real. Because, it's not like the both of them would have the exact same vision of themselves in the future. Though I do like this idea of showing them in the future a lot, and it really really works with what we've seen--btw, whose bed are they sleeping in?
I always thought the cliffhanger would be something like them getting temporarily split up, as ED said in an interview that the way season five starts out would not work with a going-abroad episode.
Wow...I think I just wrote a lot. Hope it's coherent!
I have a hard time fitting this Future!(Real)!Sex as NOT being a dream or hallucination though. I mean, how can you show something "real" when it hasn't happened yet?! Yes, it's TV, and maybe I see these characters as more "real" than they really are, but... do they have a time machine I don't know about?!
what would be the cliffhanger that will end the episode? I could see the epiphany(ies) - I'm not sure they would BOTH have epiphanies of the same type at the same time and neither do something about it *shrugs* - as "something that alters their relationship" and leaving it somewhat cliffhanger-y...
btw, whose bed are they sleeping in? It must be their Future!(Real)!Sex bed! lol
Oh and them getting split up would be, um... horrible. Me no likey.
I mean, how can you show something "real" when it hasn't happened yet?!
Exactly! And even though we know the series will end happily, why would the writers even want to jump the gun like this? Especially when Future!(Real)!Sex makes no sense--as, like you said, there is no freaking time machine.
It must be their Future!(Real)!Sex bed! lol LMAO
Oh and them getting split up would be, um... horrible. Me no likey.
Maybe I'm just an angst whore for kind of thinking this could be kind of interesting to see.
And even though we know the series will end happily, why would the writers even want to jump the gun like this?
You know what will be amazingly cool, if this really is the way it goes?! Seeing the clip from the S4 finale ACTUALLY HAPPEN (or be a flashback/flashforward/flashpresent?? kinda thing) in the SERIES finale. I'm such a sucker for continuity anyway, that would be my ultimate CON-utopia. :)
What if Booth is "heading towards the light" and is given a chance to see the future he's giving up if he "dies"?
Re: cliffhanger - if Booth has a big life-changing experience, maybe he walks away from the partnership/FBI. That would fit with her comment about not going abroad.
Oh holy crap, doc. What then? Brennan becomes his sugar-mama?! I dunno, I don't see them giving up the partnership unless there's just NO other way. Don't you think they would at least TRY to "acknowledge that there are some emotional considerations" with Sweets and see if the partnership could be salvaged in light of the realizations? I'd definitely hope so.
And the "heading towards the light" was definitely the impression they left us with at the end of Critic. I don't put any doubt in the possibility of them following up on that in the finale. BUT, I wouldn't consider that to be real!sex. Not that I'm absolutely adamant that it BE real!sex and would stop watching the show or anything... but that would be Booth's anesthetic induced dream. Unless his SuperBooth!powers have made him prophetic now, as well. *sigh* We could call in Mulder and Scully on that one. :)
I'm just saying that a gazillion shows have used this plot device - the 'Bones' writers aren't above it.
What if he has what appears to be some permanent health problem? Or it appears he chooses to continue to "head towards the light"? Definite cliffhangers.
Have I just gone down the worst-case scenario road or what?
yeah I really would hate it if the cliffhanger has ANYTHING WHATSOEVER to do with Booth's life hanging in-the-balance. That's just too dirty (HH, you hear me???). I'm okay with it being a relationship issue... one of them "acknowledges the attraction" - maybe even out loud. *gasp* Something like that, I can handle. Even Real!Sex ONCE, and dealing with the inevitably awkward fall-out of that, I can handle. The non-potential of Booth dying would be a stupid cliffhanger of epic proportions. DB is not leaving the show. I know - he could be a zombie. I hear they make for good entertainment. ;)

I just had a crazy thought:
What if they have sex like two normal people because they're sexually attracted to each other? And since they work together and are good friends, it's awkward and weird and that's the fallout.
I think we can all agree that Brennan's characterization has been all over the place this season (hmmm... maybe she's "struggling" with something?!? *little cheer for Team Brennan*)... I mean it seems that just when we start to see some real emotional connection from her, they revert her back to "lacking empathy" and I know I'm not alone in being really tired of that pattern.
Even my DH made a comment while watching that she's an emotional nightmare - one minute she's a robot and the next she's crying in the hospital waiting room.
He said that if she wasn't so hot, Booth should have kicked her to the curb years ago, lol.
lmao! I had lots of "peanut gallery" comments last night as well. He's just lucky I'd already watched the ep twice and the good parts about 15 times. lol!
oh we have the boob discussions too. last night it was when she was wearing the pink button-up shirt that was all gapping open. we both prob enjoyed that part a bit too much. ;)
I read again, and if the sex scene is Future!Sex! then that would be the theoretical "end" of the series - the "end" in 'End in the Beginning'. Like we all want to see - hot nekkid Booth/Brennan sex. Fade to black.
How we know it's real iz confuzing. Does he something like, "hey remember six years ago when I had that brain tumor", or what?
We know Booth believes in heaven, so what if he's 'going towards the light' and sees a glimpse of the future he could have if he stays here on earth?
Technically, if he sees the future, that's Real!Sex! but no one but Booth knows about it. Cue the epiphany.
