Just read this interview with HH here .

Very interesting responses ... Also, was our sweet [livejournal.com profile] labsquint one of the questioners?  If so then you go girl.  Way to put Mr Hanson on the defensive about his science.

You nailed it... two of the questions were mine.

The first one was the one about the science being off which I bet you ALL guessed. And I totally don't buy his answer for a heartbeat. Episodes like 'The Bones That Foam' were just flat out wrong for scientific procedure, investigative forensics and general lab practices, so if Kathy Reichs okayed it, then she should be ashamed of herself. And saying that you're less wrong than the other shows doesn't actually make you right, Hart.

My second questions was about how they put the stories together, body first or case first... it was down towards the bottom. I was interested since I know how I do it, so I was curious about how they do it. And he kind of didn't answer it.

All in all, I wasn't too impressed with him based on both my questions and others' questions...

I know! And how he kind of didn't actually answer several questions...

I could have picked out your questions even if they had not been signed. We who are gullible when it comes to foaming bones thank you for trying to keep up the scientific standard!

Less wrong than the other shows - Not impressed!

So what do you start with? Gave me something to think about. Instinct says body, but then case makes sense too... hm.

I figured that for those that knew me, the science bashing question was a dead giveway!

So what do you start with? Gave me something to think about. Instinct says body, but then case makes sense too... hm.

I too will admit to mixing it up, but I can at least give concrete examples:

Acid Test -- case first based on my own HIV knowledge.
Burial in Green Ridge Forest -- body discovery based on forensic journal articles about buried remains, GPS locators and cadaver dogs.
Human Puzzle in a Packing Crate -- state of skeleton; this arose from discussions with FM about some of the very dangerous equipment she had at her workplace and that lead me to 'would anything crush a body?' The answer was yes...
Firestorm -- Gib offered her professional expertise as a 20 year firefighting veteran and that steered the body condition.
Atonement -- method of torture came first and that lead directly to cause of death.
Latent Images -- historical background setting came first. That led to the mass grave and then the case was built around that.

So as you can see, we mix it up, but at least I can tell you HOW we mix it up!

*raises hand* I second this! I was actually quite disappointed with some of his answers...well, some were non-answer answers.

Believe me, you are not alone. I thought he came across as a pompous ass. And his whole "our science doesn't suck as bad as theirs" reasoning, was total crap.

I think there are a lot - a lot - of fans that are loyal to the show and the characters but have a real problem with the way things have gone since the first two seasons, and for him to say that the "true" fans are happy - he's either more out of touch than I thought or just lying.

Anyway, you rock ♥

I didn't come right out and say it that way, but you've got it nailed! :D And yes, his scientific reasoning was screwed. And I don't believe his answer to boot. I get (and can forgive) the time compression. It's the total incorrectness that I can't get past.

he's either more out of touch than I thought or just lying.

Both??

Anyway, you rock ♥

Thanks, babe!
