How does it all end? (not as mauldlin as that sounds)

Sooo... I was watching the end of my favorite tv series of all time - prior to Bones. And I've watched this clip like a thousand times (the last 7 mins of JAG):

And I'm wondering how it will feel when we watch the last 7 minutes of Bones. I'm thinking bittersweet. Thoughts?

First of all I've never watched JAG but that was adorable! I can ship anyone - they are awesome LOL. I love the ambiguous ending there... I will officially kill HH if we have ambiguousness on Bones though!

I was thinking about what the ending to the series might be like the other day, coincidentally. It will be incredibly bittersweet.. and not least because I've made so many friends through watching this crazy little show. Sigh.

How would you end the series if you got to write the last ep? That's the million dollar question!

I was glad JAG had an almost open-ended finale - after watching 10 seasons I wasn't ready to totally shut the door. Leaving the fandom behind was by far the hardest part. (And they were adorable weren't they?)

That would definitely be the hardest part with Bones. I can't imagine not having Bones to talk about on LJ.

If I were to write the last ep ... assuming that the last ep was the one where they got together, I would have them both jumping into the relationship with both feet, admitting all their feelings - just because the fangirl in me wants to hear it.

But, my ideal way to end the series would be to have them get together then go through ups and downs as they try to make the relationship work and keep solving murders. That would make for really interesting tv. Then the series could end with them making a final commitment (not marriage because I'm not sure I'd ever believe that from Brennan). I don't think once they're together it could go on for more than a season, though. Although with great writing and acting maybe it could. see? I'm totally on the fence here!

YES! Just don't Remington Steele us Hart, and have them finally get together in the last ep. There is so much to explore there; don't let us miss the experience!!!

How funny you mentioned Remington Steele! That was one of the shows that popped into my head when I was thinking about series endings.

There have been so many that have ended in a way I wasn't happy with, that disappointment seems inevitable. But so far, Bones has proven to buck a lot of trends. And when your stars actually want a relationship to work I think your chances of a satisfying series resolution go up exponentially.
